Written in the Starlight: Catherine Laplace-Builhe posts awe-inspiring information on astronomy and space. She also makes music videos from NASA/ESO footage and animations. Here is the beautiful voice and guitar of Mark Knopfler set to the music of the stars. Enjoy your Friday!
“Now the sun’s gone to hell
And the moon’s riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it’s written in the starlight
And every line on your palm
We’re fools to make war
On our brothers in arms”

very nice!
Silken event horizon, lovely image…thanks for sharing this, Rashid Moore . Also enjoyed the Hindi version!
I surely will, Rashid Moore . Looking forward to more of your creative writings 🙂
Thanks, Mahesh Sreekandath…I assure you I can be as cranky and bad tempered as anyone else 🙂 Glad you liked this version of Brothers in Arms. There is a great live version as well sung for Nelson Mandela.
Gnotic Pasta , I knew you would like this. Listening to Ride Across the River now. You must like Sultans of Swing too, who doesn’t? Thanks!
Gnotic Pasta, lol, do tell..
Sleep tight under starlight!
It’s too bad that light pollution prevents a lot of us from seeing such beauty. I need to plan a camping trip.
Simply marvellous. My goosebumps refuse to abate. I agree with everything you said apart from Mark Knopfler having a beautiful voice, but boy can he make his guitar “cry and sing”.
Rajini Rao Thanks for tagging and sharing this post. (Knopfler and Dire Straits) are one of my most favorite artists. Knopfler guitar finger picking skill is unmatched . I’m surprised listening to his voice in this song, he sounds nice and soft in this song compared to other songs of his… he is known mostly for playing his guitar than singing. I do enjoy this one though. Thanks again.
Ditto Feisal Kamil , and I must defend his beautiful voice! It’s not about technique or training, it’s just the timber and depth of the male voice that touches me in this song.
Nothing is lost i think .E=mc2

Hi had forgotten about Mark Knoepfler. Good to be reminded. I still have some of his music somewhere.
A brilliant song, once again…a beautiful voice. Thanks, Feisal Kamil .
Feisal Kamil You’ve said something important, here about solo career, Faisal. This makes me think of Bob Dylan.Only the latter’s voice is a different story.
Rajini Rao Mark Knoepfler’s voice makes everybody feel comfortable.
I have to be in a certain mood to listen to Dylan. I do like his lyrics though.
Really interesting we more or less like the same artists and dislike the same. I also don’t care for Mr Dylan.
+ Feisal Kamil I feel exactly the same about Bob Dylan, just like you. Good lyrics and all but the voice was an acquired taste.
may if you can send this vedio to our mail id
