I respect him so much for taking on this project with a classically trained operatic star like Montserrat! The warmth between them is palpable, something that reaches out through the years.

Rajini Rao Before. You can see the symbol on the background. I guess it was in 1990. In fact, he died in 1991, the year before the Barcelona Olympics.

I was blessed to have heard him live. I admit I cried during the Barcelona Olympics, knowing what should have been.
Oh, how sad! Barcelona was commissioned for the 1992 Olympics but he passed away 7 months before. The album was released in 1988. Wiki says there is a new version just released.

I circled Suzanne Roberts because of this post. I really like her. But actually I hate opera. I took music appreciation in college and I didn’t appreciate it at all. I have played Classical music and modern music and played the trombone and piano in the symphony.
Sorry, opera is still bleck. Shove a stick in that pipehole…doesn’t do a thing for me. 😉

Hi Rajini Rao the BBC (in the UK) recently ran a profile on Freddie Mercury with extensive interviews with Montserrat Caballe among others, not sure if you can get in the States but worth a dig – very detailed and well made/presented.
