Very Berry Muffins

Very Berry Muffins

I baked muffins when I was supposedly working on a manuscript from home today. It was not my fault at all. Chef Dennis Littley posted a link to these Greek Yogurt laden, blueberry and strawberry stuffed morsels of divine delight here ► http://goo.gl/UMaUR

• On the minus side, I ate most of them.

• On the plus side, I was so overcome with guilt that I finally finished Brandie Cross manuscript entitled, Secretory Pathway Ca2+-ATPase Isoform 2 Interacts with Orai1 to Mediate Store-Independent Ca2+ Entry in Lactation .

I highly recommend you try it (the recipe, not the manuscript). The muffins were super light, sweet and tangy. Next time, I won’t browse G+ when I’m supposed to be working.

Here’s my earlier lemon blueberry recipe using a lemon zest topping lightened with Nancy Sinatra’s croons: https://madamescientist.wordpress.com/2011/11/27/blueberries-lemons-and-a-mother-kissing-spring/

  5. Dr. Cross says:

Hey- AS long as I can “supposedly work from home” when I don’t have an experiment to do in lab and instead play Street Fighter X Tekken…HaHa

  6. Rajini Rao says:

You can work play all you want, Brandie Cross , as long as you continue to make those amazing three-dimensional mammosphere cultures on the side 😉

  7. you’re very welcome Rajini Rao !

  8. Dr. Cross says:

LOL- unfortunately the next few months will NOT allow for much of that…sigh… =0)

  9. These look SOOOOOOO good. I love blueberry muffins – have never made my own though, think I’m gonna have to try out this recipe 🙂

  10. Rajini Rao says:

It’s super easy, Chris Mallory . Most of it is organization: getting everything out and premixing the wet and dry ingredients separately. Then mix them together and you’re done!

  11. Hopefully then my amazing organization skills can make up for my lack of quality baking skills  😉 Looks like I’ll need to go out and buy some blueberries this weekend 🙂

  12. Rajini Rao says:

Baking is a “piece of cake” for a researcher 🙂

  13. This is a really nice way to get worked done! Guilt works well with me too 🙂  I will try these muffins no doubt….the easy way and go buy some tomorrow!

  14. Kawthar A says:

Mmmm! That’s so good, and i started my day with this post! 🙂

  15. Rajini Rao says:

The assimilation was the essential part of the analysis, Feisal Kamil 😉

  16. Rajini Rao says:

Especially because one eats the evidence.

  17. Rajini Rao says:

LOL, lady scientists don’t burp. We assume a serenely supine position, that’s all.

  18. Chad Haney says:

eats the evidence I think Kimberly Chapman should see if mary Zeman also knows copyright law. Edit  I meant trademark.

  19. Rajini Rao says:

One starts with eating the lopsided ones. Of course, the one that was too small had to go, because it was an outlier. That applied to the oversized muffin that I carelessly aliquoted by being absentminded. Then I had to reward myself with a pretty one. I broke one open to photograph, and ate that one  to clean up the crumbs….

  20. Chad Haney says:

And then there is that last bit of tea that needs company to finish.

  21. Rajini Rao says:

I see that you are familiar with this experimental protocol, Chad Haney .

  22. Rajini Rao says:

What did you just type, Mugdha Thareja ?

  23. Chad Haney says:

Hah, my wife gives a lot of her baking “accidents” to our friend because she doesn’t want me to get fat from confirming whether or not the “accident’ is really that bad or not. He happily takes the pies, muffins, etc. home.

  24. Zee L says:

    I’m hungry again

  25. Rajini Rao says:

OK, thanks for the clarification, Mugdha Thareja . I think that may be mulberry according to this YouTube link:Mulberry or Shahtoot Tree

  26. Chad Haney says:

My dog loves’ mulberries. She’ll even take mulberries over some treats.

  27. Rajini Rao says:

Ana has good taste in berries (and owners), Chad Haney . I live in the US, Mugdha Thareja .

  28. Chad Haney says:

Not so fast, Rajini Rao Ana also like rabbit poop.

  29. Chad Haney Not hardly, I hope everyone starts using the phrase. 🙂

Rajini Rao You should feel proud of eating most of them…they have blueberries, which are healthy.  It’s why I put walnuts on brownies.  _Healthy_.  Yes.  Go with it.

  30. Rajini Rao says:

I’ve not tried the combination, Drew Sowersby ! I don’t find Greek yogurt to be too tangy, and I’m intrigued. Do you put it as a dollop on hot oats?

  31. Chad Haney says:

    I could see steel-cut oats.

  32. Rajini Rao says:

Double dose of calcium with your milk and muffins, Rashid Moore 🙂

  33. Rajini Rao says:

Wait until your metabolism hits middle age, Mark Bruce ! We can plus calories faster than a What’s Hot cat post gathers plus ones on G+.

  34. Now i want this more than all the stars and genes in your lab …your kitchen sounds like a great place to be …just kidding …have a nice evening Rajini Rao :))

  35. Rajini Rao says:

My kitchen would be even nicer were you to visit for chai and muffins (or samosas), Kershaw Rustomji 🙂

  36. Smiling and thank you Rajini Rao …if I ever come there …will definitely come over for that chai and muffins …it will be a pleasure to meet you all  🙂
