Evolution: The Greatest Show on Earth.

Evolution: The Greatest Show on Earth. Just released, 13th in the Symphony of Science series. Features David Attenborough, Bill Nye and Richard Dawkins.

“The history of life can be thought of

As a many branched tree

The five kingdoms of life

Were established early on

Bacteria

Protists- amoeba like creatures

Fungi

Plants

And Animals

We find ourselves perched on one tiny twig

In the midst of a blossoming tree of life”.

Watch for the stunning footage.

Great video(s) and message, just hard to take the autotuned voices at times. 🙂

  2. Unknown's avatar Rajini Rao says:

LOL, I understand..this one was not particularly tuneful either. The one on the brain was lovely, though. As I said, watch for the stunning footage 🙂

Personally, Rich Pollett , they ought to always include women in their episodes. Not only would they be more accurately representing diversity, but women’s voices lend themselves a bit better to autotunes, IMO! As in : Ode to the Brain! by Symphony of Science

  4. Unknown's avatar Rich Pollett says:

This is very true and there are many females in science that would easily represent science so very well.

  5. Unknown's avatar Aki Rodic says:

Nice footage but the auto-tune voices make it look like a bad spoof video.

  6. Unknown's avatar Tom Lee says:

Nice video. The auto-tune voice sounded like R2D2 and C3PIO. I don’t think they need to auto-tune and synthesize the voice hoping the footage represents something futuristic or mysterious thus making the video more successful and engaging. Iike Rajini Rao was hoping, if a soft woman voice ( i.e. Sarah Brightman) was using I think I would enjoy it more.

  7. “Animals strive to reach just one ultimate goal, to ensure the survival of the next generation.” How profoundly this statement struck me – to realize that possibly MAN is the only species, who instead, strives to ensure self-gratification and does not seem at all concerned about the survival of future generations?

  8. The intention may be good, but the song is AWFUL!

Haha, Víktor Bautista i Roca , I see that the G+ audience is getting tougher and more discriminating! Must work harder to please 😉

  10. Unknown's avatar Tom Lee says:

+Rajini Rao, I appreciate it that you are taking upon yourself to work harder to please the crowd even though you don’t have to. Your posts are often of good quality, educational and entertaining. We all have different opinion and this is a good thing about G+ as long as the comments are constructive and within network etiquette. Thanks for the post!

  11. Thanks for the share Rajini Rao . Fantastic collection of species in there! I’m reminded of this poem by the famous Feynman (old loves are seldom forgotten :-))

    There are the rushing waves

    mountains of molecules

each stupidly minding its own business

    trillions apart

yet forming white surf in unison

    Ages on ages

    before any eyes could see

    year after year

thunderously pounding the shore as now.

    For whom, for what?

    On a dead planet

    with no life to entertain.

    Never at rest

    tortured by energy

    wasted prodigiously by the Sun

    poured into space.

A mite makes the sea roar.

    Deep in the sea

    all molecules repeat

    the patterns of one another

till complex new ones are formed.

    They make others like themselves

    and a new dance starts.

    Growing in size and complexity

    living things

    masses of atoms

    DNA, protein

dancing a pattern ever more intricate.

    Out of the cradle

    onto dry land

    here it is

    standing:

    atoms with consciousness;

    matter with curiosity.

    Stands at the sea,

    wonders at wondering: I

    a universe of atoms

    an atom in the Universe.
