Does Neurobiology trump Theoretical Physics? I suspect the mathematicians have the last laugh.

Does Neurobiology trump Theoretical Physics? I suspect the mathematicians have the last laugh.

A biologist, a physicist, and a mathematician are sitting in an outdoor cafe. They watch two people go into a building across the street. Shortly thereafter, three people come out.

“Hmm,” says the biologist. “It looks like they reproduced.”

“Nah,” says the physicist. “There was obviously error in our initial measurement.” The mathematician looks up from his coffee. “Who cares? If another person goes in, it’ll be empty.”

For science nerds on Google+ and laughs for #ScienceSunday (Allison Sekuler , Robby Bowles, here’s hoping to start 2012 with a Big Bang).

  1. Rupertt Wind says:

how can they break up, its almost impossible to get sheldon a girl friend

  2. And some thinks women’s first function is to drop eggs!.

  3. Rajini Rao says:

Hmm, reine toutou and Feisal Kamil , the problem with both those hypotheses is the outcome of getting egg on one’s face (http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-egg2.htm)! 🙂

  4. Rajini Rao says:

LOL, Calculating angular momentum and mapping trajectory right now 😉

  5. I side with the physicist whose quarks are “charmed” and “beauty”, He proves the mathematics showing that most of it is simply empty space.I’ll elaborate: “god particle” joins the particle zoo – but without god

“The new particle is made up of a ‘beauty quark’ and a ‘beauty anti-quark,’ which are then bound together,” says a scientist. “People have thought this more excited state should exist for years but nobody has managed to see it until now.” He adds, “The better we understand the strong force, the more we understand a large part of the data that we see, which is quite often the background to the more exciting things we are looking for, like the Higgs particle.”

Let’s not get lost the background, because that’s easy to do

when probing the secrets of the particle zoo

no god was discovered in the particle stew.

So, let the quarks come out to play

    ” charmed”? or “erotic”?

    it’s hard to say.

  6. ooh!, empty space, pity it’s always full of chit %D

  7. Marc Trömel says:

Morgan Fickey he is not gay. That is the way all male scientists behave….

  8. Rajini Rao – your post reminds us that life is complex: it has both real and imaginary components 😉

  9. I use to think everything is material, your thoughts, waves in the air, intuition, it’s chemical changes, electric currents etc…in your brain or anywhere else. And I still think the same way+delta’s.

  10. Taking an egg in your face is a risk to take, so you learn by you mistakes.

  11. Rajini Rao says:

Look on the positive side, reine toutou , it’s a free protein enriched face mask..could do wonders for the complexion 🙂

  12. Rajini Rao says:

Shah Auckburaully , amazing video, thanks! Do I take it you vote neurology, then 😉 Or, math trumps all?

  13. Oh, Maths trumps everything! And Sheldon wins because without the unifying equation which keeps every force stable, Amy would not have existed to state her hypothesis.

  14. I saw something once, it may have been another xkcd cartoon, making fun of a psychologist because psychology is really neurology, which is really biology, which is really chemistry, which is really physics, which is really just mathematics. 🙂
